Inclement Weather Policy

Inclement Weather Policy

The Wyoming FLL Championship is a 'Rain or Shine' event. Well, in December, in Wyoming, it is really a 'Snow or Shine' event. Meaning that we do not have the ability to reschedule the event if there are poor road/travel conditions around the state. We are hoping for good weather, but we all know how it is in Wyoming (keep your fingers crossed that it will be a nice weekend). We will run the event with the teams that are present.

Final travel decisions will need to be made by each parent/coach/team with a primary focus on child/team safety.

Volunteer Registration

The Wyoming FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Robotics Championship is back for its Sixth year! Wyoming FLL continues to grow and expand. This year nearly 60 teams from all over the state are planning on attending. This year's robotics championship will be held at the Casper Events Center on December 2nd and 3rd, 2011 and we need your help again!

In order for this event to be successful, we need MANY volunteers. We need Adult volunteers to Judge and Referee. Judge Volunteers work in pairs to evaluate teams in one of three areas; Research Project, Robot Design, or Teamwork. Referees manage the the action during the Robot Game, and record the score for each round. In addition, we need volunteers to help with the competition in general; team runners, field reset, pit tables, etc. Individuals interested in being a volunteer can sign up by clicking the registration link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2011legovolunteer.

IMPORTANT DATES
Judge Training (must attend one) - Tuesday, November 8 OR Monday, November 14, 6:00-7:30 PM at Casper College, Gateway Building, Room 208

Referee Training (must attend one) - Monday, November 7 OR Tuesday, November 15, 6:00-7:30 PM at Casper College, Gateway Building, Room 208

GENERAL VOLUNTEERS:
We are in need of volunteers for various jobs the day of the event. You can volunteer for a few hours or the whole day. You will find it to be a very rewarding experience contributing to the youth of Wyoming.

REWARDS:
No matter what volunteer role you choose, you will be provided with a free t-shirt, access to the volunteer hospitality room, and our sincere thanks. Most importantly, you will get to enjoy watching the teamwork, camaraderie, craftsmanship, learning, and team spirit provided by the fine students of Wyoming.

Wyoming FLL Robotics Championship - Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd at the Casper Events Center, specific times will be determined by volunteer role. Specific volunteer questions can be directed to our Wyoming FLL Volunteer Coordinator, Kendall Jacobs at kjacobs@caspercollege.edu.

Thank you for making FLL possible for the children of Wyoming!

2011 Food Factor Challenge: Keeping Food Safe

Can FIRST® LEGO® League teams improve the quality of food by finding ways to prevent food contamination? In the 2011 Food Factor Challenge, over 200,000 9-16* year olds from over 55 countries will explore the topic of food safety and examine the possible points of contamination our food encounters – from exposure to insects and creatures, to unsterile processing and transportation, to unsanitary preparation and storage – then find ways to prevent or combat these contaminates. In the Food Factor Challenge, teams will build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT to solve a set of Food Safety missions as well as research, develop, and share their innovative food safety solutions. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under FLL’s signature set of Core Values.
